The WHEAT Foundation: supporting the RoboWarriors (AKA Team 41) since 2008

                        CORONAVIRUS UPDATE
Unfortunately, the 2019/20 season has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. We will post any updates here, but as of now the only remaining event for Team 41 this season is the team banquet. It has been re-scheduled for Wednesday June 17 at Chimney Rock Inn but we are currently considering alternatives due to coronavirus concerns. We will post here any changes in the banquet plans as soon as any decisions are made. Our monthly WHEAT meetings are also being affected, with our next one being a virtual online Zoom on Thurs. May 28 at 7 p.m. The June 4 meeting will be re-scheduled for a date later in June. We at WHEAT are sad to see this all happen, but optimistic that Team 41 and FIRST Robotics will come back better than ever for the 2020/21 season!
WHEAT meets monthly at the Warren Library. Visitors are welcome! As explained above, our next meeting is Thurs. May 28 at 7 p.m. and is being done as an online Zoom meeting. Visitors are still welcome to join us - send an email using our contact page link here and we will send you the meeting link. Come see what we're up to!
Mission

The WHEAT Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.  Our mission is to support the participation of Watchung Hills Regional High School students in national, state and regional programs designed to inspire young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math, while building self-confidence, knowledge and life skills.

Who We Are

The WHEAT Foundation is an all-volunteer organization, comprised primarily of parents of members of the Robo-Warriors, the Watchung Hills Regional High School FIRST Robotics Competition Team - Team 41.  The Foundation is dependent on the ongoing support of the community and welcomes new members to join us and support the robotics team.

What We Do

The WHEAT Foundation raises funds to support the Watchung Hills Regional High School robotics program, and works with the faculty advisors and team mentors to provide other organizational and logistics support to the team, especially during the critical six-week build season.  In addition, we serve as advocates for the robotics program and other STEM programs to encourage additional funding and support from the school district and community.

Team 41 Wins Innovation in Control Award            2019 Montgomery Competition

This award is sponsored by Rockwell Automation. It "celebrates an innovative control system of control components - electrical, mechanical or software - to provide unique machine functions." Team 41 worked hard to create their control station for this year's robot, and it resulted in them winning the award at the Montgomery competition. They won this same award twice in 2018. The controls are a technological work of art, and the team is very proud and pleased that their hard work paid off. Below is the team picture after receiving the award at the Montgomery competition. Pictures of the controller are in the photo gallery pictures above.

 2019 Recap

Team 41 had an exciting and challenging season in 2019. The team performed well in their two district competitions in Mt. Olive and Montgomery, and made it to the quarterfinal round of the playoffs in both. These two good district performances qualified them for the regional competition at Lehigh University where they again did well with a final ranking of 30th out of 60 teams. Not quite enough to qualify for the World Championship in Detroit, but still a successful season to be proud of.
